Track: Bioengineering & Biotechnology
Graduation Year: Spring 2027
Hometown: Baltimore City, MD
High School: Baltimore Polytechnic Institute
Why I choose CBEE: I love the option to explore bioengineering with the track I am on. This is a great way to see how being a ChemE could be applied to different fields.
Areas of Interest in Chemical Engineering: Medical & medicine applications. Specifically the study of diseases and treatment development.
My favorite thing about CBEE is: A relatively small department where you can easily become familiar with staff and other students.
Advice for a new CBEE student: If there’s any way for you to prepare for your classes, take full advantage. Whether that’s revisiting a subject you struggled with or refreshing your studying or retention skills, or reaching out to professors/ upper classmen for notes or study tips… do it! The classes go by faster than you think so being prepared in any and every way is essential to not falling behind in the beginning.
What I plan to do with my Chemical Engineering degree: Get my PhD in ChemE or Biomedical Engineering. Become a principal investigator (PI) of a lab and be a good contributor in my area of research.
UMBC Activities & Clubs: Society of Women Engineers. One of many COIET orgs that helps support students’ professional development and give students a great community with other students within COIET.
Hobbies: Dance, crocheting, being with my friends, family, & 3 dogs
My favorite thing about the Baltimore area: Very close to Washington D.C.. I love taking day trips to DC on the weekends! Also, we have great food places and the malls are really nice. You can always find something to do!
