Engineering and Computing Week + COEIT 30th Anniversary

This Engineering and Computing Week is extra special as COEIT is celebrating their 30th Anniversary!


Come checkout the events that are lined up this year!



Monday (2/20)
-Engineer's Week Kick-Off, 12pm-1pm, ENG Atrium
Celebrate the start of Engineering and Computing week with a brief talk from Dean Bowman on the history of COEIT, followed by a guest speaker and FREE LUNCH provided by Tau Beta Pi, The Engineering Honor Society

-New Student Organization Collaboration Room, Ribbon Cutting,3pm-4pm, ENG 014
Witness the ribbon cutting of the exciting NEW COEIT Student Organization Collaboration Room


Tuesday (2/21)
-ACM Info Booth, 12pm-1pm, ENG Atrium
Learn more about the Association for Computing Machinery and what they're all about!

-AIChE ChemE Car Reveal, 4pm-6pm, ENG Atrium
Witness the unveiling of the chemically powered car created by the American Institute for Chemical Engineering

-SWE & CWIT Hot Chocolate and Cookie Social, 7pm-8pm, ENG Atrium
Enjoy a FREE hot chocolate and cookie social hosted by the Society of Women in Engineering and the Center for Women in Technology


Wednesday (2/22)
-Engineers Without Borders Geography Challenge, 11am-12pm, ENG Atrium
Do you know your geography? Come test your knowledge at the Engineers Without Borders Geography Challenge

-IEEE Website Building, 12pm-1pm, ITE 238
Acquire the skill of website building! Taught by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 

-Retriever Robotics Robot Showcase, 2pm-3pm, ENG Atrium
Check out the capabilities of the robots build by UMBC's Retriever Robotics

-Men's Basketball Game (vs. UMass Lowell), 6pm, Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena

Thursday (2/23)
-NSBE 3D Print Booth and Egg Drop Challenge, 12pm-1pm, ENG Atrium
Check out the 3D printing booth and test your engineering skills with the egg drop challenge hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers

-SHPE Diversity Panel, 5pm-6pm, ITE 238
Join the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers in a faculty panel discussion of diversity in STEM

-COEIT 30th Anniversary Alumni Reception, 5:30pm-7:30pm, Guinness Brewery Warehouse E
Alumni from the College of Engineering and Information Technology are invited to attend an alumni reception with Dean Keith Bowman, as well as college faculty and staff

-AIChE Jeopardy Game Night, 7pm-8pm, ENG 022
Play AIChE Jeopardy and test your knowledge with the American Institute for Chemical Engineering!


Friday (2/24)

Start the day off right with FREE delicious coffee and conchas provided by Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

-Battle of COEIT, 12pm-1:30pm, ENG Atrium
Prove your major is the best by competing in various games. The winning major takes home the Engineering and Computing Week TROPHY.

-New Computing Success Center/SI PASS Space Academic Success Center/COEIT Ribbon Cutting in Fine Arts, 2pm-3pm, Fine Arts 010
Witness the ribbon cutting of the exciting NEW Computing Success Center/SI PASS Space Academic Success Center in the Fine Arts Building

-ASME Showcase and Gear Raffle, 3pm-4pm, ENG Atrium
Check out the showcase put on by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and participate in a raffle for some ASME swag.

-UMBC Racing Car Unveiling, 6pm-8pm, ENG Atrium
Witness the unveiling of the racing car built by the UMBC Racing team!


Week-Long Painted Rock Scavenger Hunt with PRIZES!
Find painted rocks hidden across the UMBC main campus AND Shady Grove campus. Bring the rocks to the COEIT Office in ITE 217 for a special PRIZE
