Abstract

FEMA floodplain maps (RISK maps) are the prevailing indicator of flood risk and transcend their stated insurance purpose. This presentation will provide the current status of flood RISK maps and Maryland's direction for future RISK maps and watershed studies.  

Bios

Eileen Gladd is a Maryland registered Professional Engineer and serves as a Senior Engineer in the Flood Management division of MDE. She is the State's FEMA floodplain map coordinator (CTP) and is the project manager for implementing MDE’s watershed studies initiative.  She has been in this role for three years and with MDE for nine years, having previously served as a capital projects engineer for State-funded water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. Prior to joining MDE, she worked for consulting firms as a water resources engineer modeling and mapping floodplains for RISK maps, and a project engineer designing stormwater and stream restoration projects.
