Description

Lumpkin Society is a bi-weekly event for all CBEE graduate to hang out in a safe space and be SCIENCE NERDS together!

The Lumpkin Society is named for the late Professor Lumpkin, whose deep commitment and concern for students both in and outside of the classroom and for inspiring women and minorities to pursue studies in science and engineering inspires the department and graduate student community.

The Lumpkin Society meetings are a safe place for CBEE graduate students to meet.  Exclusive to CBEE graduate students, activities fulfill both social and academic needs.  They are an opportunity to socialize, discuss research, departmental activities, and connect with student leaders.  Food and drink are generously provided by the department and each meeting will have a theme, usually in the format of a presentation and discussion of a research topic lead by one of the members.

GRADUATE STUDENT SPEAKER

The FIRST EVER Synthetic Toggle Network, Based Entirely on Protein-Protein Interactions!

While not required, those interested can check out the paper (Mishra et al., Science 373, 75 (2021)) that Alex Doan will present (see link below)

Just a reminder that the Lumpkin Society is exclusive to CBEE graduate students ONLY as we all need a safe place to socialize and decompress together 🙂

Reading the paper is encouraged but not required. The speaker will present the key points.
